Four Hours on 1 DVD
(DVD includes Biofeedback monitors in split screen reflecting heart rate variability and activation of the SNS and PNS and balancing between them in addition to full screen visual of session.)
F1a Sue (CO) ©2004 Bungee Jump Gone Wrong. Sue leapt off a bridge feet-first instead of head first and snapped violently at the bottom of the fall. She can only remember the beginning of the event and had no recall of getting to shore or walking up the stairs to the bridge again to meet her friend. She exhibits strong dissociation and loss of grounding from dangling in space above the river. She recovers through emphasis on grounding, “controlled dissociation” and corrective experiences. Sue integrates her awareness, in a titrated fashion through the T-0 point of intensity of the fall, to regain a felt sense of her survival and reconnection to gravity and the shore afterward.
F1b Leslie (CO) ©2004. Leslie has been told that she was left in a stroller at the top of the stairs as an infant and the stroller crashed to the bottom. She works through the sensation of the fall in slow motion and resources by “softening” the impact as a corrective experience. This session is a good example of working through non-verbal impressions and recovering empowerment from helplessness. Please disregard bio-feedback
F2a Daniela (CO) ©2004 Fall off Slide Breaking Arm. Daniela falls off the slide, breaking her arm and finds little support from the medical staff at the hospital. Due to a continuing pattern of inadequate support, Daniela makes a life decision to do everything herself. She renegotiates the fall to the ground on pillows, allowing plenty of time for integration. She allows herself to ask for and receive support from the group as a much-needed corrective experience towards resolving Dependence/Trust character issues and allows herself to receive support from the group as a much-needed corrective experience.
F2b Sol (CO) ©2004 Sexual Incest as Teen with Migraines and Eating Disorder. Sol has been invited to work in the group as a new client with little prior SE knowledge. She has a migraine at the start of the session which resolved as she reroutes the vasoconstriction in the head back into completing defensive orienting responses. We work on the issue of incest at the age of 16 with her stepfather and resulting struggles with an eating disorder, migraines and a fear of men. After completing the threat response sequence and discharging fears, Sol resolves some issues around food and nourishment and feels safer with men in general. After having migraines every day for years, the headaches gradually lessened and now, through continued work with her SE therapist, she is migraine free.
